King’s Day 2020 celebrations in Maastricht cancelled

The Municipality of Maastricht and the Province of Limburg have decided to cancel the King’s Day 2020 celebrations in Maastricht. This is in response to the impact of the measures taken to combat the coronavirus.

Although King’s Day falls on 27 April and the announced measures will remain in force until 6 April, their impact on the preparations for the event is so great that the programme cannot be delivered as planned.

The Municipality of Maastricht and the Province of Limburg regret that King’s Day 2020 will not be able to go ahead but, in light of current developments, believe this to be the wisest decision for the time being. The invitation to the King and his family to celebrate King’s Day in Maastricht with the region of South Limburg obviously still stands, but at a later date.

All residents, associations, organizations, and entrepreneurs involved in the organization of King’s Day 2020 will be contacted in the coming days by the project’s organization team.
The Municipality and the Province would like to express their gratitude to everyone who was, is, and will remain involved in the organization of King’s Day in Maastricht. Thank you for your commitment, and for your understanding in this matter.
