Presentation of King’s Day programme postponed

Presentation of King’s Day programme postponed

The new coronavirus (which causes a disease called COVID-19) is putting the Netherlands before a huge challenge. The far-reaching measures adopted by the Dutch government yesterday have a direct impact on public life.

In light of the present situation, the Municipality of Maastricht and the Province of Limburg do not consider it appropriate to hold the festive presentation of the 2020 King’s Day programme as planned on Wednesday 18 March. A decision was therefore taken to postpone the presentation for the press until further notice. The press will be informed of the new date for the presentation as soon as this is available.

Of course, we wish to emphasize that no decision whatsoever has been taken to cancel the 2020 King’s Day celebrations in Maastricht. After all, the measures to control the coronavirus apply only until 31 March. The preparations for King’s Day will proceed as planned, in which we will closely monitor the situation concerning the virus.
